Andrea is the daughter of Good News! For this coming Sunday, we will meet at 9:00AM for the Bible study. We will concentrate the lesson on "God's Family Album," based on I Peter 2:9,10. It reads, "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy." The deaf worship service will take place at 10:00AM. "If You Abide in the Word..." is the lesson prepared for the service in Deaf Chapel. As it reads in Romans 10:17, "So then, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." Prayers for this week: Please pray for Melvin & Jan Robinson's son, Kevin, who is going fly oversea to do his duty in See You Sunday! CONDOLENCES to Jean Mangrum on the death of her brother-in-law, Lewis Pryor Jr., who passed away on Thursday, June 15th. Gerald Fullers last aunt passed away Sunday night in LADIES RETREAT - Ladies, mark your calendars for Friday, October 20th and Saturday, October 21st for our annual Ladies Retreat. This is for all ladies 18 years old to 118. More information will follow soon. Our theme this year will be Blessings. If you have any questions or would like to help in the planning, please contact Amy Behel. OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF BABES A Sunday School teacher asked her class just before she dismissed them to go the worship services, And why is it necessary to be quiet in church? Annie replied, Because people are sleeping. ON THE LIGHTER SIDE! God was sitting in heaven one day when a scientist said to Him, God, we dont need you anymore. Science has finally figured out a way to create life out of nothing - in other words, we can now do what you did in the beginning. Oh, is that so? Tell Me
replied God. Well, we can take dirt and form it into the likeness of you and breath life into it, thus creating man. the scientist proclaimed. Well, thats very interesting...show Me. So the scientist bent down to the earth and started to mold the soil into the shape of a man. No, no, no
interrupts God, Get your own dirt. HELP!!!! The Kroger Store on ALSO
We desperately need Meals on Wheels drivers and cooks. Please contact Gerald Fuller or Peggy Cobb if you can help occasionally. FERVENT PRAYERS We have a number of our members and friends who are suffering with various serious illnesses at this time. Prayers really do help us all get through difficult times so please make a concerted effort to pray for all our sick (in body, spirit and those who are sick at heart). Also, please remember the care-givers, that God will give them patience, strength, a loving heart, and that He will bless them beyond measure as they care for others. SAD OBITUARY Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Mr. Common Sense. Mr. Sense had been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such value lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm and that life isn't always fair. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not kids, are in charge). His health began to rapidly deteriorate when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition. Mr. Common Sense declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer aspirin to a student; but, could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion. Finally, Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense finally gave up the ghost after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot, she spilled a bit in her lap, and was awarded a huge financial settlement. Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust, his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility ; and his son, Reason. He is survived by three stepbrothers; My Rights, Not me, and Lazy. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on; if not, join the majority and do nothing. NEVER ALONE To feel close to God is a great comfort. It is depressing to feel alone and forsaken, to think that we have been left to our own resources and must rely on our own strength. I would not want to live a single day without being able to feel that God is near me and the whole world. Always remember that he is as near as the next prayer or scripture read from His word. THANKS TO OUR TEACHERS We are very fortunate at Hermitage to have some of the best teachers in the world. We are very grateful for the time and energy (yes, energy...have you ever taught 2, 3, 4, 5 & six year olds?) THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!
